Lot B: Six Months of Construction Seen from the Inside

On September 15, 2024, RTI Percassi-NBI started work on Lot B of the New Polytechnic School. Six months later, the construction site is in full swing. Here is what is happening and what is being built.

What is being built

Lot B is the laboratory section: specialized facilities that do not exist in any other university building in Liguria.

These spaces are not just for lectures. They are for applied research. Once open, they will allow students, faculty, and companies to conduct experiments that currently require traveling elsewhere in Italy or abroad.

Delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Lot A is the next step

While Lot B moves forward, Lot A is getting ready to start. The contract for departments, classrooms, the library and shared spaces was awarded in November 2025 to the consortium led by Strabag. Value: approximately €180 million. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with completion scheduled for 2029.

Lot A is the part that will bring people to the campus: 5,000 students and researchers every day. The cable car vertical connection, currently under study, will link the new FS “Aeroporto/Erzelli” railway station, now under construction, with the campus, making it possible to reach Erzelli from Genoa city centre in just a few minutes.

Why it matters for the park

The New Polytechnic School is the piece that completes the founding promise of Erzelli: the cross-pollination between tech companies, university research, and the hospital in the same location. For years, it remained on paper. Today, it is an open construction site.

When the laboratories open in 2027, companies settled in the park will have direct access to advanced research facilities. When the departments open in 2029, thousands of engineering students will work every day just a few hundred meters from Ericsson, IIT, and Siemens.

The construction site is not a sign of what is to come. It is proof that it is already happening.
